EVALUATION TASK 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Focal Feedback Video:

By holding a focus group it gave my group and myself an oppurtunity to receive a range of feedback comments from a variety of young people. Overall the feedback comments were that they liked our products. However there were a slight few things they did not like.

Below are three bar graphs that show evidence of our audience feedback. By making a bar chart of our feedback it made it easier for me to understand what we needed to do to improve/develop our products.

Below I have created a Prezi, explaining what I have learnt from my audience feedback. However, overall I have learnt that I have constructed an effective campaign. My target audience have told me that the theme/ideas I have tried to create throughout my three products have worked.

By taking feedback feedback throughout the process of making my products allowed me to make adjustments to the campaign before it was distributed. Henry Jenkins a media theorist states 'we live in a participatory culture' where fans and audiences are important in the in the meaning of media messages. I believe this to be true as the feedback we gained, particularly in the post production section of the creation of our music video really helped my group and myself with ideas that we could develop on in order to create a star image for our artist and to make sure the audience were seeing what they wanted to see. I realise that engaging an audience can either challenge or reinforce a media message.

Feedback/Evaluation on our rough cut

Today we decided to show a first unfinished draft of our music video to a group of A1 students; in order to get feedback that we could then develop on. This draft mainly focuses on our lip sync section of our artist Joe, however we intend to cut a lot of this down to show more of the performance between himself and our dancer.

Below is our first draft:

From showing this draft to the A1 students, we as a group realised that we needed to show more shots of the artist and dancer together in the hotel room as they told us these were there most favoured shots. They also told us to show more slow motion shots of our dancer Hannah, as it made it easier for them to connect with the lyrics the artist was lip syncing as they were able to realise who he was singing about.

Below is a video of my group and myself getting feedback:

When gaining feedback we asked our audience open questions and closed questions.

These are the questions we asked:

Open:

Do you feel there needs to be more romance?
Does the red work, if so why?
Does this look like a professional music video or not? If so, why?
Girls do you think Joe is attractive?
Boys do you think Hannah is Attractive?

Closed:
Do you think Hannah works being in it?
Should there be more slow motion shots?
Does the voice fit the character?
Do you like the video?
